Marmoleros Earn Win with Late Rally
The Nueva Gerona Marmoleros racked up a win at Parque de los Alacranes, bumping off the Mayabeque Alacranes, 5-4. Ludovico Gómez, who started for Nueva Gerona, pitched effectively for his team. Nueva Gerona reliever Álvaro Salinas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jesús Ybarra took the loss. Nueva Gerona's record now stands at 19-36, placing them second in the Torneo Occidental Artemisa.

The outcome might have been different for Nueva Gerona, had it not been for Silverio Izarrarás, the 21-year old catcher . Izarrarás stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put Nueva Gerona up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We certainly don't want to get used to losing," said losing manager Pascual Mireles.
