The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Guantanamo Cocoteros did just enough to sneak past the Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises, 4-3, at Campo de los Cocoteros. Guantanamo pitcher Normando Saravia, in particular, had a standout performance. The third-place Cocoteros are now 34-39, the Monjes Grises 30-42.
Contributing to the Guantanamo cause was Roberto Jiménez. In the bottom of the fourth, the 32-year old catcher had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 4-1, the Cocoteros in front.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Guantanamo skipper Miguel Morales.
