Bayamo Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Alfaro
Guantanamo and Bayamo engaged in a slugfest.

The Guantanamo Cocoteros overcame a pretty good performance by Bayamo right fielder Luis Alfaro, beating the Rafagas, 13-10, at Estadio de Bayamo. Alfaro was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Reliever Normando Saravia picked up the win. His record improves to 7-6. Reynaldo Rodríguez, who led the TORI in saves with 19 in 1905, took the loss.

Guantanamo used the clutch hitting of Ismael Ramírez to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Cocoteros the lead, 12-9. For the game, Ramírez had 3 singles and 1 double in 6 at-bats.

Bayamo manager Robert Faure said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."

The win puts Guantanamo at 40-35 this season.
