The skies opened up and the rain fell at Recinto Deportivo de Holguin.

Holguin pitcher Sergio Ríos had a large part in his team subduing the Guantanamo Cocoteros, 1-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The first-place Pericos improved to 48-37.

The Pericos got a clutch hit from first baseman Rolando Pérez. In the bottom of the ninth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Pericos.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Pérez.
