The first-place Manzanillo Martenos picked up another win.
Manzanillo pitcher Luis Rivera had a large part in his team subduing the Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Rivera got the win, improving to 10-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Víctor Rivera closed out the game, earning his 14th save.
Chipping in for Manzanillo was first baseman Bill McAleer. He stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. For the game, McAleer was 1-4.
"Nice win for us," said McAleer. "Now we'll go after the next one."
With the victory, the Martenos record stands at 55-29.
