Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Pinar del Rio Guajiros take on the Artemisa Rojos.
Artemisa center fielder Trevor Hawkins made his presence felt in the 7-4 Rojos triumph over the Pinar del Rio Guajiros. Hawkins went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win gives Artemisa a season record of 58-51.
With Artemisa leading 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Hawkins hit a 2-run single off Pinar del Rio hurler Esteban Santa Cruz. It was the 116th hit of the season for Hawkins and put his team ahead, 7-4.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Hawkins.
