Elefantes Earn Win with Late Rally
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Cienfuegos fans at Estadio de los Elefantes.

The Cienfuegos Elefantes picked up a win at Estadio de los Elefantes, dropping the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 5-4. Jeffrey McCarthy, who is tied for 9th in the TOCC with a 4.1 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. At 45-45, the Elefantes find themselves in third place in the Torneo Occidental Matanzas.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 4-4, 19-year old right fielder Vicente Villanueva won it for Cienfuegos. With a runner on 3rd, Villanueva hit a first pitch fastball from Enrique Báez for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.

"This joint was rocking," said McCarthy.
