Win Streak Now at 6 for Elefantes

The Cienfuegos Elefantes picked up a win at Estadio de los Elefantes, downing the Mayabeque Alacranes, 4-2. On the mound for Cienfuegos was right-hander Jeffrey McCarthy, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8.2 innings, McCarthy surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Rodrigo García was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 21 save opportunities.
Desiderio Quiñones, who finished 5th in the TOCC in triples with 12 in 1906, aided the Cienfuegos cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"Jeffrey gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Cienfuegos skipper Eduardo Galarza.
The second-place Elefantes now sit at 49-45.
