The Mayabeque Alacranes locked up a win at Parque de los Leones, knocking off the Habana Leones, 8-4. On the mound for Mayabeque was right-hander Javier López. He played a major role in the triumph. The Alacranes saw their record improve to 53-49.

With Mayabeque leading 5-4 in the top of the sixth, López hit a run-scoring single off Habana hurler Odiseo Montoya. It was the 12th hit of the season for López and put his team ahead, 6-4.

"We're all smiles after that win," López told the Mayabeque Herald.
