The rain came, as predicted, but the Artemisa Rojos and Santa Clara Leopardos were able to complete their ballgame.
The Artemisa Rojos took Santa Clara pitcher Miguel Escobar's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Estadio de Santa Clara. The final score had Artemisa getting past the Leopardos, 3-2. Escobar went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 2. The winning pitcher was Eufemio Roque. He tossed 122 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Stuart Boyle, who finished 5th in the TORI in saves with 10 in 1910, earned the save for Artemisa.
Artemisa got a big at-bat from San Juan, Puerto Rico native Camulógeno Yáñez, who in the top of the third hit a run-scoring double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Rojos ahead, 3-0.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Santa Clara manager Héctor Montoya. "But we decided not to take it."
At 53-47, the Rojos find themselves in first place in the Torneo Occidental Artemisa.
