Monjes Grises Take Nail-Biter Over Martenos

Both teams had their chances, but the Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises eventually prevailed.
Manzanillo catcher Pablo Salmerón was sensational. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Ciego de Avila beat the Martenos, 5-4. Ciego de Avila, at 51-67, holds down third place in the Torneo Oriental Camaguey.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 15th inning, when Ciego de Avila first baseman Santiago Maura, facing Luis Rivera, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Monjes Grises the 5-4 win.
"He who laughs last laughs best," Maura said, postgame.
