The Culiacan Galanes got their 1913 season off and running with a win over the Nayarit Mariachis at Campo de los Galanes. The final score was 3-2 in 10 innings. Culiacan pitcher Apolonio Rivera, in particular, had a fine performance. Ricardo Reyes, who finished 4th in the LN in saves with 6 in 1905, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Culiacan catcher Pearce Adams, facing Raúl García, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Galanes the 3-2 win.
