In a low-scoring tilt between the Acapulco Aztecas and the Campeche Corsarios, 29-year old right-handed pitcher Nerón Rodríguez was the difference-maker. The Acapulco right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Rodríguez got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Farón Pedroza recorded the save, his 1st.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Aztecas had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when left fielder Andrés Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ramón Carino and made the score 1-0, Aztecas. Rodríguez went 2-4 with 2 singles.
Rodríguez called the win a "confidence builder."
