Carboneros Earn Win with Late Rally
Mexicali wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Takeshi Funakoshi, falling to the Coahuila Carboneros, 6-5. Funakoshi threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Fernando Lara notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. The win brings the Carboneros to 14-11, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The decisive blow was delivered by Sorcha Walker in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a run-scoring double off 30-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Lozano to win the game for Coahuila. The home crowd went nuts.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Carboneros manager Esteban Bellán.
