Arche Tosses Shutout Against Mexicali
Jesús Arche led the Coahuila Carboneros to a shutout victory, 4-0, over the Mexicali Algodoneros at Estadio de Saltillo.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Arche recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Arche yielded 2 hits and had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Mexicali manager Daniel Blair said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

Arche has gone 7-1 this season with an ERA of 1.02 and 64 strikeouts in 70.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .168 against him.
