The Jalisco Jinetes beat the Ciudad Juarez Nortenos, 5-2. Jalisco pitcher and Guanica, Puerto Rico, native Herminio Sánchez led the way. The third-place Jinetes now have a record of 18-12.
The Jinetes got a big at-bat from left fielder Gustavo Ortega. For the game, Ortega went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Jalisco a 3-2 lead.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Sánchez.
