Chiapas first baseman Jumacao Sánchez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Sánchez went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Toluca beat the Quetzales, 9-8. Conrado Chaidez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. The Chorizos, at 16-15, sit in 5th place in the Sur.

Toluca took the lead in the bottom of the third on a big hit from Benjamín de la Torre. On a 0-2 changeup from Rosendo Sánchez, de la Torre hit a run-scoring single. That made it 1-0, Chorizos. For the day, de la Torre was 1 for 4 with a walk.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," de la Torre told a Toluca Today reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
