Corsarios Lose to Quetzales, 3-2
|
Campeche wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Mórsimo Becerril, falling to the Chiapas Quetzales, 3-2. Becerril threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Hormisdas Rosario picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-9 on the season. He struck out 1 and walked 4 in 7 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The first-place Corsarios dropped to 37-21.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Gastón Fraire was at the plate when Chiapas scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Quetzales to go in front, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Fraire applauded his team's "resolve."
