Trovadores Sneak Past Quetzales, 3-2
|
Merida Trovadores starter Vladik Ofitserov pitched well against the Chiapas Quetzales at Parque de los Quetzales, leading his team to a win, 3-2. Ofitserov got the win, improving to 11-12. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Mamerto Legorreta, who finished 2nd in the LS in saves with 16 in 1909, earned the save for Merida.
Merida used the timely hitting of Motoi Matsunaga to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Trovadores on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Ofitserov.
The 4th-place Trovadores improved to 62-46.
