Libertadores Lose 5-3 Decision to Nuevo Laredo
|
Nuevo Laredo picked up a win at Parque de la Libertad, bumping off the Guanajuato Libertadores, 5-3. Pitcher Francisco Martínez was a major reason the Colibris emerged victorious. Martínez picked up the win for Nuevo Laredo, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 15-11. The 4th-place Colibris now sit at 63-53.
With Nuevo Laredo leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Martínez hit a run-scoring single off Guanajuato hurler Pedro Silva. It was the 19th hit of the season for Martínez and put his team ahead, 3-1.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Nuevo Laredo manager Luis Estrada.
