Matadores Get Clutch Win Versus Mexicali
|
The Tijuana Matadores earned a close win over the Mexicali Algodoneros, thanks in part to Julián Saldaña. The Tijuana right-hander, who finished 4th in the LN in innings pitched with 279.1 last year, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Zacarías Miranda, credited with the win, is now 1-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. With the win, the Matadores have a record of 47-67.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Aristídes Torres had a chance to end it. Mexicali pitcher Carlos Díaz had other ideas. But with one out, Torres hit a sacrifice fly. The Matadores had the win.
Saldaña said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
