Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Carboneros
The Mexicali Algodoneros and Coahuila Carboneros provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Coahuila Carboneros faced a tough opponent in Mexicali pitcher Gabriel Benites, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Estadio de Mexicali by a final score of 5-4. Benites went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ben Downie earned the win for Coahuila. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 16-12. Picking up his 10th save was three-time All-Star Jesús Arche.

Coahuila used a timely hit from 29-year old first baseman Mason Glynn to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Carboneros on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Glynn said.

With the win, Coahuila has a record of 73-53. Mexicali falls to 66-60.
