Nortenos Lose to Jinetes in Walk-Off
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Jinetes beat the Nortenos.
Ciudad Juarez got a terrific performance from pitcher Ernesto Mendoza, but it wasn't enough to beat the Jalisco Jinetes. Jalisco won the Campo de Guadalajara contest, 2-1. Mendoza threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. With the victory, the Jinetes record stands at 70-57.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Nortenos allowed the Jinetes to score the winning run.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Gómez.
