Quetzales Beat Chorizos, 5-1
|
The Chiapas Quetzales picked up a win at La Salchichera, knocking off the Toluca Chorizos, 5-1. Starting pitcher Alberto Chávez was a big reason why. Chávez, now 10-10, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Quetzales move to 64-64 with the win, while the Chorizos drop to 68-61.
The Quetzales got a lift from shortstop Germán Gallegos, who in the top of the second stroked a full count fastball to center for a run-scoring single. It was his 114th hit of the season and put the Quetzales ahead, 3-0.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Chiapas skipper Catulo Flores. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
