Chorizos Handle Chetumal, Snag 3-2 Win

The umbrellas came out during the Toluca-Chetumal contest at La Salchichera.
Bert Cook, who finished 5th in the LS in wins with 19 in 1909, pitched well, but the Chetumal Mayas still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Toluca Chorizos at La Salchichera. The winning pitcher was Diego Rivas. His record now stands at 3-6. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits for the Chorizos.
Had Balbino Cruz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Cruz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Chorizos.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Cruz.
Toluca is now 70-61, Chetumal 57-74.
