Michoacan Tacks 5-2 Loss on Oaxaca
|
Calaveras second baseman Buck Herzog left his mark on his team's 5-2 win over the Oaxaca Zapotecos. Herzog, who is tied for 6th in the LS in bases on balls with 56, was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Michoacan in the contest. Rodrigo Martínez picked up the win, lifting his record to 13-9 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 4 in 7.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Picking up his 22nd save was two-time All-Star Day Rochford.
Michoacan shortstop Akinori Takahashi helped the Calaveras go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Takahashi hit a run-scoring single off Oaxaca pitcher Jesús Moreno.
In postgame comments to the Michoacan Times, Herzog said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
