Romero, on Top of His Game, Beats Derry, 4-0
|
It was not a good day at the plate for the Derry Maidens. They came up empty when it mattered against Dublin Vikings right-hander Godofredo Romero, who scattered 4 hits across 9 innings and held the Maidens scoreless.
"We had 4 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Derry manager Edelmiro Pompa said later.
Romero chalked up 8 strikeouts and 4 walks in the 4-0 Vikings win.
This year, Romero has recorded a 6-5 mark. In 13 starts he has fanned 60 batters in 101.1 innings with a 3.73 ERA.
