Sheffield wasted a solid 11-inning effort from starting pitcher Balbino Adame, losing to Coventry, 2-1, at Motors Grounds. The winner in relief was Abenámar Costello. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Motors, at 22-30, inhabit 5th place in the Baseball Federation of England & Wales English Baseball Championship.

The decisive blow was delivered by Eusebio Dorantes in the bottom of the 16th when he hit a run-scoring double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Premislao Gutiérrez to win the game for Coventry. The home crowd went nuts.

"Tough loss," said Sheffield manager Quirke Carmichael. "Tough one to swallow."
