Websters Lose as Caber Tossers Stage Late Rally
|
Dundee got a valiant performance from pitcher Balbino Menjívar, but it wasn't enough to beat the Perth Caber Tossers. Perth won the game, 5-3. Menjívar threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Abenámar Martínez was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Medardo Salas. Perth's record now stands at 35-23, placing them third in the Baseball Federation of Scotland & Ireland Lig Ball-steidhe na h-Alba.
Perth used a clutch hit from Ronaldo Hernández to snatch the win. The catcher belted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Caber Tossers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hernández. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
