The rain came, as predicted, but the Perth Caber Tossers and Inverness Thistles were able to complete their ballgame.
Perth pitcher Aidan Grant had a large part in his team subduing the Inverness Thistles, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. In 8.2 innings, Grant surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Jorge Flores picked up the save, his 15th.
Perth first baseman Clément Lamy contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 75th hit of the season and put the Caber Tossers ahead, 3-1.
"Aidan pitched his heart out," said Perth manager Plutarco Valido.
After today's action, Perth sits at 51-40; Inverness slips to 35-55.
