Slumping Stevedores Lose 7th Straight
The Wrexham Druids beat the Newport Stevedores, 6-5, at Stevedores Stadium. Rafael Burga was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 26-year old catcher was a menace to Newport all day. Carlos Arredondo, who is tied for 7th in the BFE&W in strikeouts with 128, was the winner. He's now 7-12. The loser was Gareth Cummings. With the win over Newport, the Druids improved to 41-50.

Burga had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 changeup from Gareth Cummings, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Druids a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd double of the year for Burga.

"It's going to click," said Newport manager Tim McKee. "It's just a matter of when."
