Agamenón Alonzo propelled his team to victory over the Cardiff Arcadians. The final score was 8-3, Newport. With the win over Cardiff, the Stevedores improved to 35-75.

Newport won the game in part because of Boniface Nizeyimana. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Stevedores ahead, 3-2. For the game, Nizeyimana had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Newport manager Tim McKee.
