The rain did not keep Bangor and Newport from finishing their game.

The Bangor Bishops racked up a win at Stevedores Stadium, bumping off the Newport Stevedores, 3-2. Zacarías Sosa, who started for Bangor, pitched effectively for his team. Bangor, now 77-36, holds down first place in the Baseball Federation of England & Wales Undeb Pel-fas Cymru.

Bangor got a lift in the top of the sixth from left fielder Marcos Quezada, who hit a curveball to left for a 2-run double. His 30th double of the season put the Bishops up, 2-0.

"Zacarías was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Bangor manager Felipe Mendoza.
