The Bangor Bishops earned a win at Stevedores Stadium, knocking off the Newport Stevedores, 6-4. On the bump for Bangor was left-hander Ramón Carranza. He had a starring role in the triumph. Carranza, now 18-9, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. The first-place Bishops now have a win-loss record of 78-36.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Marcos Quezada? The 31-year old left fielder Quezada stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Bangor up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Ramón went out and did what we needed," said Bangor manager Felipe Mendoza.
