Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Rams
Birmingham got a terrific game from right fielder Marcos Farías. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Derby, 6-5. Farías went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Picking up the save was Carlos Velázquez, his 4th. The last-place Rams hiked their record to 38-94.

Derby used a timely hit from Les Houghton to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rams ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Nice to get this one," said Houghton. "Wins have been hard to come by."
