Martínez Lays Hammer Down in 6-2 Win
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Markham Wheelwrights were eager to watch Pedro Quezada square off against Édgar Martínez of the visiting Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants. In the end, the Sleeping Giants won the game, 6-2, with Édgar Martínez leading the way.

The Wheelwrights had little chance against Martínez, who overpowered Markham hitters and struck out 10.

"Édgar was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Thunder Bay manager Tomás Rivera.
