A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants and Thessalon North Stars.

Thunder Bay turned a good performance from starting pitcher Édgar Martínez into a 3-2 triumph over the Thessalon North Stars at Thunder Bay Grounds. Martínez, who is tied for 3rd in the OBA in complete games with 3, went the distance for Thunder Bay. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.

The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the ninth when Raúl Díaz hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rombek Malual to win the game for Thunder Bay. The home crowd went wild.

"This place was rockin'," Díaz said.

The win gives the Sleeping Giants a record of 8-9.
