Acosta Sparkles in 5-0 Blanking of Italy Wednesday, December 28th , 1910 Juan Carlos Acosta kept the Italy Blues hitters from doing much damage at Estadio Federal. Italy could only muster 7 hits and draw no walks against the right-handed Acosta, who controlled them throughout the game. Mexico won the contest, 5-0. Acosta added 8 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Acosta told reporters after the shutout win.
