5-for-5 Day for Montes Sunday, August 17th , 1913 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Natanael Montes -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Estadio de San Antonio and paced the 14-10 Comediantes win over the Cienfuegos Elefantes. After his dynamite batting performance, the San Antonio de los Banos catcher told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Natanael Montes singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Felipe Pérez in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 7th.
