Excelentísimo (LNM) Goes to Coahuila Reliever
Tuesday, October 7th , 1913
As improbable as it might seem, a reliever can win the Excelentísimo (LNM), Liga Nacional Mexicana's top pitching honor. Jesús Arche proved it today as the Coahuila bullpen ace earned the Norte award after a remarkable season.

He posted an ERA of 1.24 with 19 wins, 5 losses, and 10 saves in 35 relief appearances. Over 246.1 innings he struck out 217, allowed 67 walks and held opposing hitters to a .183 batting average.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Santiago Palacios of the Jalisco Jinetes finished second in voting, while Takeshi Funakoshi of the Mexicali Algodoneros finished third.
