Inverness Stymied by Baxter Monday, August 17th , 1908 Ewan Baxter of the Perth Caber Tossers was masterful, pitching a 5-hit shutout, 4-0, against the Inverness Thistles. By going the distance, he was at the same time able to give his bullpen a rest, a fact appreciated by Perth manager Plutarco Valido. "It's nice to have someone who can do that from time to time," he said. "He had command of every ball and every pitch. Great location, too." Baxter had 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the outing.
