Mahoney Tosses 4-0 Shutout for Cardiff Saturday, August 2nd , 1913 Sloan Mahoney shut down the Newport Stevedores, blanking them, 4-0, on 4 hits, ringing up 9 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Cardiff Arcadians pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on. "I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Mahoney said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there." This year, Mahoney has fashioned a 18-6 mark, 2.22 ERA and pitched 230.2 innings.
