Great Day for Pacheco, Hits for Cycle
Saturday, August 16th , 1913
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Santiago Pacheco's day was a special one.
The first baseman hit for the cycle to spark the 7-6 Bangor Bishops victory over the Wrexham Druids at Bishops Fields. Bangor manager Felipe Mendoza said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Pacheco in particular.
"Santiago caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."
For the day, Pacheco finished with 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Santiago Pacheco singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Nicolás Díaz in the 8th, walked in the 10th and walked in the 12th.
Pacheco is hitting .308 in 1913 with 43 RBIs and 4 home runs.
