Derry Crowned Champions Tuesday, September 16th , 1913 It's party time in Derry. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling. The Derry Maidens have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 1913 Crown of the Four Flowers today. They defeated the Bangor Bishops 1-0 at Maidens Grounds to officially wrap up the series 4-2. Asked how it feels to be a champion, starting pitcher Esteban Quezada was to the point. "It feels great, like a million bucks. I'm so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys," he said. "We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions." The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week.
