Bangor's Felipe Mendoza Named Top BFE&W Manager Sunday, September 28th , 1913 Manager Felipe Mendoza was speaking before a Bangor fan luncheon when word came down that he'd been awarded the Baseball Federation of England & Wales Manager of the Year. Mendoza's face turned to surprise as the club's owner made the hasty announcement. "Wow... how lucky can a guy be? Manage a great bunch of guys... have great fans... have a great season... and now this... life don't get any better than this." Bangor fans applauded, recognizing how fortunate they were to have Mendoza at the helm. Both fans and players in attendance toasted their skipper as they truly enjoyed the day. 1913 was an extra-special season for Mendoza as he piloted the Bangor Bishops to a 88-44 record and a first place spot in the Baseball Federation of England & Wales Undeb Pel-fas Cymru standings. A record good enough to win the 1913 Manager of the Year Award. |
