Behind Martínez, Thunder Bay Blanks Thessalon, 8-0 Friday, September 12th , 1913 Édgar Martínez of the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants was on fire against the Thessalon North Stars at Thunder Bay Grounds. He shut them out, 8-0, on 3 hits, collecting 12 strikeouts and allowing 4 walks. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Martínez said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
