Lortie Fashions Shutout Against Saskatoon Wednesday, August 27th , 1913 Bill Lortie shut out the Saskatoon Willows, 5-0, on a 6-hit masterpiece for the Brandon Threshers at Saskatoon Fields. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Brandon skipper Flaminio Martínez said afterward. Lortie registered 5 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Saskatoon manager Matías Magaña after the defeat.
