Skipper Dueñas Told to Go, Sacked by Gas
Thursday, December 3rd , 1914
Today the Gas made an announcement: The era of Tito Dueñas is over in Vancouver.
After a disappointing season, the club officials sat down with Dueñas to discuss their decision to make a change.
"It wasn't a surprise to me," Dueñas said speaking with reporters. "As a team we did not perform up to people's expectations, nor to my expectations. When that happens, someone has to take the blame. This year, that person was me."
In an official statement, Gas general manager expressed gratitude for Dueñas's efforts, but confirmed the need to look for a different voice in the clubhouse.
"We thank Tito for providing class, professionalism, experience and leadership during his tenure with the club, but believe we need to make this important change to our team's management," he said.
