Hitting Streak Still Alive for Martínez Wednesday, July 23rd , 1913 Pablo Martínez continued his streak at Yardmen Park, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Wichita Falls left fielder was 1-for-4 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 30 games. The Yardmen were not as fortunate, losing, 16-1, to the Amarillo Horizons. "Martínez was hitting everything we threw at him," said Amarillo manager Chad Newman. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame and we came away with a win." Pablo Martínez singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and flied out in the 7th. Looking at his season stats, Martínez has compiled a .327 batting average and a .369 on-base percentage, while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 67 runs. |
