Mammoths Move on to Championship of the Frontier Wednesday, September 3rd , 1913 The Waco Mammoths and Beaumont Alpinists put on a classic Pennant Championship Series that was in question until the final game. In the end, Waco won the deciding contest by a score of 3-2, to take the series 4-3. "It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Timoteo Hernández, who earned series MVP honors for Waco. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now." For the series, Hernández hit .290 with a .290 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Waco Mammoths don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Taos Artists - Tempe Olympians series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece.
